Frost and Fire celebrates Winter Solstice in Forbes, NSW. Enjoy starry skies, fire buckets, hearty foods, brews, music, entertainment, and Wiradjuri performances. The grand bonfire event will leave you warm and nostalgic.

Peak Hill Gold Mine

The Peak Hill gold mine operated from 1893-1917, producing 60,000 ounces from 500,000 tonnes of rock. Alkane mined from 1996-2002, retrieving 145,000 ounces from 4.9 million tonnes. Alkane preserved some old workings for the Open Cut Experience, which includes historical and recent mines. Visitors can access viewing areas, walking trails, rest areas, and a bridge walk over historic mine workings.

Canowindra

Nestled along the tranquil waters of the Belubula River, Canowindra (pronounced /kəˈnaʊndrə/ kə-NOWN-drə[2]) stands proudly as a cherished historical township and the thriving heart of Cabonne Shire. Positioned in the picturesque central west region of New South Wales, Australia, this vibrant community is situated between the enchanting cities of Orange and Cowra. Adding to its charm, the main artery of the town, Gaskill Street, gracefully meanders through a portion that is lovingly preserved as an urban conservation area.

The Dish- Parkes

The CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope, star of 'The Dish' movie, is a must-see landmark in inland NSW. The giant dish stands impressively in sheep paddocks, 20km north of Parkes. Just a short 5km detour off the Newell Highway, you can marvel at the 64-meter steel paraboloid atop a three-story tower. The Visitor Discovery Centre nearby explores astronomy and The Dish's role in 'listening to the stars'.

Utes In The Paddock- Condobolin

Utes in the Paddock was created by Jana and Graham Pickles of Burrawang West Station, boosting visitation to the Central West region. Lachlan Shire Council is committed to developing and promoting the outdoor gallery. After eight years, the collection now resides in Condobolin and attracts thousands of visitors.
